The Tone:
This is a Spring 2027 Internship at Doeren Mayhew, a large CPA and advisory firm. The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: Part-time to Full-time (25-40+ hours per week)
• Location: In-person
• Team: Interns work within either the Corporate Audit or Domestic Tax service groups, collaborating with Principals, Managers, and Associates.
• Mission: To provide real-world accounting experience and help interns navigate and challenge accounting and business norms.
• Tech Stack: Audit software programs, Tax software programs

What You’ll Actually Do
• Engage with client teams: Collaborate on numerous engagement teams with various Principals, Managers, Associates, and other interns to complete audits, reviews, and compilations for clients, or work on an array of tax returns.
• Develop software proficiency: Participate in a hands-on training program during the first two weeks to learn how to utilize audit or tax software programs, thereby developing a practical understanding of key procedures.
• Gain industry exposure: Experience 8-12 client engagements in a wide variety of industries, including manufacturing, construction, non-profit, auto dealership, retail, hospitality, and restaurants.
• Execute core tasks: Compile and analyze financial information, test and document business transactions, prepare and review financial statements, or assist with the preparation of corporate and individual tax returns, including personal property, partnerships, C-Corp, and S-Corp returns.
• Perform on-site duties: Travel to client sites as required to perform audit engagements or conduct tax research and work on tax projections using information compiled by audit staff or provided by the client.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level position for individuals pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting.
• Experience: No specific prior years of experience are required; however, completion of at least one intermediate accounting course by Spring 2027 is preferred.
• Skills: Demonstrated cumulative and accounting major GPA of 3.0, excellent oral and written communication abilities, proven time management skills with the capacity to manage multiple responsibilities, and a strong drive and motivation to pursue a career in public accounting.
• Bonus: Preferred work experience (related or unrelated to accounting), demonstrated leadership skills, ability to take initiative via work experience and/or extracurricular activities, and a high degree of curiosity, willingness to learn, and enthusiasm.
