About Sony Pictures Television Business Affairs

Sony Pictures Television’s Business Affairs department is responsible for managing the business side of television production. They negotiate and draft contracts with various parties involved in the production process, including writers, producers, performers, directors, television networks, co-production entities, and service providers. This department also works closely with other departments such as Creative, Production, Finance, and Legal Affairs to provide business advice and consultation.

The department’s core responsibilities include:

• Negotiating and drafting production agreements
• Implementing and administering business policies and procedures
• Analyzing business and legal issues related to productions
• Reviewing budgets and other financial information

Spring Internship Description

This Spring Internship offers a unique opportunity for students and recent graduates to gain real-world experience in the entertainment industry. The program runs from January through May 30th, with flexible start and end dates based on school schedules. The internship requires part-time commitment of 10-29 hours per week, with a Monday-Friday schedule from 9 am to 6 pm. The position is ideal for students enrolled in an accredited college or university, and may offer a hybrid work structure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Research deal terms and issues, summarizing findings in memos
• Draft and revise agreements, amendments, deal terms, letters, notices, abstracts, and charts
• Review credits
• Take notes in meetings and calls
• Manage digital files and documentation

Qualifications:

• Passion for entertainment and the business affairs field
• Relevant education or experience in agreements, legal, and budgeting
• Excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal and written)
• Proficiency in Excel with strong analytical abilities
• Ability to handle multiple priorities, maintain attention to detail, and work under pressure with short deadlines across various teams

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous entertainment experience or internships
• Enrolled as a 2L or 3L law student

Compensation and Benefits:

The anticipated base salary for this position is $25/hour. The role may also be eligible for comprehensive benefits. The final salary will depend on individual qualifications, experience, education, and location.
