Solid Waste Engineer Intern | LaBella Associates

The Tone:
This is a summer internship at LaBella Associates, a company dedicated to solid waste management, environmental compliance, and sustainability. This role offers an engineering student the opportunity to gain hands-on experience within these critical areas. The intern will support technical projects, data analysis, and field operations, directly contributing to effective waste solutions and environmental protection under the guidance of experienced engineers.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Design & Optimize Waste Systems: Assist in the design, evaluation, and optimization of solid waste systems including collection, transfer, recycling, and disposal.
• Conduct Field Inspections: Perform field inspections and site assessments of landfills, transfer stations, and recycling facilities.
• Analyze & Report Environmental Data: Analyze environmental data and prepare technical reports, charts, and presentations.
• Support Regulatory Compliance: Support regulatory compliance efforts including permit applications, reporting, and documentation.
• Perform Geospatial Analysis: Perform GIS mapping and spatial analysis related to waste infrastructure and service areas.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field, having completed at least sophomore year.
• Experience: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Skills: Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Bonus: Experience with GIS, AutoCAD, or data analysis tools; an interest in environmental sustainability and public infrastructure.
