This role is crucial for designing, implementing, and testing embedded software that controls and monitors intravenous infusion therapies, directly impacting patient care in healthcare institutions. The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Location: San Diego, CA (In-person)
• Pay: $25–$34 hourly
• Mission: Design, implement, and test embedded software for medical devices that program, monitor, and report intravenous infusion therapies.
• Tech Stack: C++, C, C#, Python, QNX, Linux
What You’ll Actually Do
• Design: Perform software design based on existing software characteristics, consultation with engineering staff, and system functional requirements.
• Implement: Implement software following coding guidelines to achieve optimal performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Test: Conduct software evaluation and testing for your own software, as well as software from other engineering staff and third-party vendors.
• Plan: Provide test plans for use by other engineering staff, quality assurance, and support departments to validate new implementations.
• Support: Assist engineering staff in clarifying software change requests and understanding reported problems.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Early Career student.
• Experience: Must be a rising junior, senior, or graduate student actively pursuing a degree in Science or Engineering, such as Computer Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering.
• Skills: Programming proficiency, object-oriented design principles, knowledge in real-time control and inter-processor communication, and strong interpersonal communication and reporting abilities.
• Bonus: Practical experience with programming languages including C++, C, C#, and Python; familiarity with operating systems and concepts such as QNX or Linux.
