Software Engineering Internship Job Description:

This 12-week summer internship (May/June – early August 2025) offers hands-on experience within Cargill’s global Digital Technology & Data team. Interns will contribute individually or as part of project teams, applying software engineering and analytical skills in areas such as cloud platforms, big data platforms, and application development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Applying and building engineering skills in various areas of software development.
• Working within a global team, leveraging collaborative and innovative approaches.
• Contributing to real business situations and gaining exposure to multiple Cargill businesses and functions.
• Participating in ongoing job performance evaluations and receiving mentorship and supervision.
• Attending orientation, summer activities, and volunteer events to learn about Cargill’s diverse operations.
• Completing other duties as assigned.

Internship Program Details:

The internship program includes access to comprehensive learning resources, volunteer opportunities, paid time off for volunteer activities, and networking events with leadership and other interns. High-performing interns may be offered full-time positions upon graduation. The program emphasizes a team-oriented, fast-paced, and hands-on approach. The expected hourly rate is $28.00-$32.00, depending on graduation date and full-time employment eligibility. Interns are responsible for their own transportation.

Required Qualifications:

• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. (not based solely on a student visa or third-party employer sponsorship).
• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree with a major or minor in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technology field.
• Graduation between December 2025 and Summer 2026.
• Geographic flexibility and willingness to relocate to Atlanta, GA for the internship.
• Ability to complete a 12-week summer internship.
• Ability to apply technical knowledge to job-related duties.
• High degree of initiative and resourcefulness.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals.
• Knowledge of basic structured programming, systems analysis and design, database design, and business concepts.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior software engineering internship experience.
• Commercial product software development experience.
• Experience with agile development methodologies.
• Strong analytical and technical skills.
• Excellent prioritization, problem-solving, collaboration, communication (written and verbal), and information research skills.
