Software Engineer Intern, Trust and Safety (AI Safety) | TikTok

The Tone:
This is an internship at TikTok, located in Los Angeles, CA (with other global office locations possible). TikTok is the leading destination for short-form mobile video, inspiring creativity and bringing joy to users worldwide. This role is crucial for ensuring TikTok remains the most trusted platform by securing the safety of a wide spectrum of features, contributing to an industry-leading safety control system.

• Pay: $45 hourly
• Team: Spectrum Safety team, part of Core Trust and Safety
• Mission: Make TikTok the most trusted platform by securing the safety of various platform features.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Feature Development: Build new features that will impact hundreds of millions of people globally.
• Problem Solving: Solve unique, large-scale, and highly complex technical challenges.
• Technical Contribution: Actively participate in technical discussions related to the team’s product and engineering initiatives.
• System Exposure: Gain hands-on exposure to an industry-leading safety control system.
• Knowledge Application: Utilize academic knowledge in real-world scenarios to foster personal and professional growth.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing an Undergraduate or Graduate degree in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
• Experience: Able to commit to working for 12 weeks during the Summer of 2026.
• Skills: Ability to think critically and formulate clear, concise solutions to problems; strong communication skills; excellent teamwork skills; self-starter attitude; agile mindset.
