About the Role
This is a full-time, on-site internship for students, expected to start August or September 2026 and continue through fall term (ending approximately December 2026) or potentially into Winter/Spring 2027. Interns will focus on bringing up Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) on next-generation embedded systems, developing Linux device drivers, and defining hardware/software interactions for Tesla’s autonomous car platform, Humanoid Robot, and expanding AI inference use-cases.

What You’ll Do
• Bring up RTOS (Real Time Operating Systems) on the next generation of embedded systems for Tesla autonomy
• Deliver high-quality C code in a real-time embedded environment
• Develop and maintain Linux device drivers for AI interface hardware accelerators, camera capture, ISP (Image Signal Processors), GPU, Ethernet, UFS, and PCIE
• Define the hardware, software interactions for our next generation fully autonomous car platform, Humanoid Robot, and the expanding AI inference use-cases
• Develop and bring-up the system software stack that runs on the AI platform and interacts with various sensors in the car and robot

You’re a Good Fit If You
• Are currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field of study with a graduation date between December 2026 – December 2027, and are actively enrolled in an academic program
• Possess strong C/C++ programming skills
• Have experience working with and writing software for embedded Linux systems
• Have experience working and debugging complex, distributed software systems
• Are comfortable analyzing data to improve design and performance of a system
• Have an understanding of hardware and software development processes
• Are able to work 40 hours per week on-site

Bonus Qualifications
• Experience with software/kernel
• Experience in Python/Perl/Bash Scripting
• Experience with Ethernet or CAN communication protocols

Role Highlights & Compensation
• Expected to start August or September 2026 and continue through fall term (ending approximately December 2026) or continuing into Winter/Spring 2027 if available
• Minimum of 12 weeks, full-time (40 hours/week) and on-site
• $20 – $60/annual salary + benefits
