Software Engineer Intern (Fall 2026) | Notion
The Tone:
This is a software engineer internship at Notion, located in San Francisco, CA, running from September 14 to December 4. Notion is building a collaborative AI workspace where teams and agents think together, aiming to be a single place for all knowledge, projects, meetings, and AI tools. Millions of individuals, small teams, and large companies run their work on Notion, and Notinos (our employees) are customer zero in bringing this future of work to life. This role is a vital part of Notion’s first engineering internship class, where you will help shape the future by ensuring a performant, reliable, and secure experience for our growing user base, ultimately earning and keeping their trust while delivering amazing new tools. What You’ll Actually Do
• Code: Write clean, secure, tested, and documented code.
• Design: Design and enhance the Notion product with new capabilities, always with an AI-first mindset.
• Develop: Develop, fix, and debug software across the full stack, including web services, databases, applications, and tools, utilizing modern frameworks and tooling.
• Collaborate: Work closely with the team and a dedicated mentor to build and ship AI Native projects that deliver valuable impact to both customers and engineers.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Student pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, with a graduation date before Summer 2027.
• Experience: Previous internship experience.
• Skills:
* Working towards proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Typescript, Node.js, or Python.
* Demonstrated interest in AI, having built or prototyped features using AI technologies like LLMs, Embeddings, or ML, and eager to learn more.
* Thoughtful problem-solving, including the ability to decompose tricky problems and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, while being comfortable asking for help when stuck.
* User-centric and collaborative mindset, thinking critically about the implications of what is built, communicating nuanced ideas clearly, and enjoying cross-functional teamwork.
• Bonus: Expertise with specific technologies that are part of our stack, including Typescript, React, or Python; familiarity with computing pioneers such as Ada Lovelace, Douglas Engelbart, and Alan Kay; interests outside of technology, including art, history, or social sciences.
