Software Engineering Intern | Woven by Toyota

The Tone:
This is an internship at Woven by Toyota, located in Palo Alto, CA, USA. Woven by Toyota is leading Toyota’s century-defining transformation into a mobility company, driven by human-centric innovation across autonomous driving, advanced driver-assist systems, a software development platform called Arene, smart cities, and cloud/AI infrastructure. This role specifically supports the Arene platform, which empowers the delivery of next-generation vehicles with hardware-agnostic, updateable software. As an intern, you will contribute to developing internal tooling platforms crucial for large-scale, safety-critical in-vehicle software development, directly impacting the goal of a world with zero accidents and enhanced well-being for all.

• Mission: Enable Toyota Motor Corporation and partner teams to efficiently model, simulate, validate, and integrate complex automotive software for safety-critical in-vehicle systems.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Design and Implementation: Assist in designing, implementing, and maintaining internal tooling platforms used within Toyota Motor Corporation workflows.
• Automation Development: Develop automation, validation, and integration capabilities specifically for safety-critical automotive development needs.
• Pipeline Support: Support CI/CD pipelines and build processes for large-scale, multi-team projects.
• Cross-Team Collaboration: Collaborate with Toyota Motor Corporation engineering teams to gather requirements and adapt tools for real-world development scenarios.
• Tool Improvement: Help improve developer-facing CLI tools and GUIs that interact with Arene’s ecosystem.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field; Student career level.
• Experience: Familiarity with version control systems such as Git, coupled with an interest in developer productivity, automation, and improving engineering workflows.
• Skills: Experience with at least one scripting language (Python, Shell, Javascript, etc.) and familiarity with a lower-level programming language (Go, Rust, C/C++, etc.).
• Bonus: Exposure to developer CLI tools or CI/CD pipeline automation; familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and containerization (Docker); experience with cloud-based development environments (AWS, GCP, Azure); or basic knowledge of automotive or safety-critical software development.
