Software Engineering Intern | Scyntic

The Tone:
This is a remote internship at Scyntic. Scyntic operates an AI-driven platform specifically designed to optimize conversion rates for Shopify merchants. The company achieves this by deploying sophisticated simulated shopper agents that meticulously identify precise points where customer conversions falter, empowering merchants to significantly enhance their customer experience. Scyntic is also proactively preparing e-commerce stores for an evolving era where AI agents will increasingly shop on behalf of customers. This role is essential for helping businesses stay ahead in the rapidly changing landscape of online retail optimization by contributing directly to the core technology that enables these advancements.

• Mission: This role’s mission is to contribute to the development and improvement of Scyntic’s AI-driven platform, ensuring it effectively optimizes e-commerce conversion rates for Shopify merchants and prepares them for future AI shopping paradigms.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Back-End Development: Assist directly in the development and ongoing optimization of critical back-end systems that power Scyntic’s AI platform for e-commerce.
• Software Projects: Actively contribute to various software development projects, working on different components of the platform to bring new features to life.
• Code Implementation: Write, review, and debug clean, efficient, and robust code to build new functionalities and maintain existing platform features.
• OOP Application: Apply core object-oriented programming (OOP) principles and best practices throughout the software development lifecycle to ensure scalable and maintainable solutions.
• Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the broader engineering team, sharing insights and working together to continuously improve the platform and solve complex technical challenges, particularly those related to AI-powered tools.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a closely related technical field, demonstrating a strong grasp of fundamental computer science principles.
• Experience: Demonstrated skills in back-end web development and general software development, showing an aptitude for building robust digital solutions.
• Skills: Proficiency in general programming concepts and specific expertise in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP). Possess strong analytical abilities and excellent problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail when identifying and resolving complex technical issues. The role also requires the ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a remote team environment, thriving on tackling large technical challenges and demonstrating enthusiasm for both discovering problems and devising effective solutions.
• Bonus: A genuine interest in the fields of AI and E-commerce. Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies. An aptitude for operational excellence, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving production issues. This is currently an unpaid internship, with the possibility of being elevated to a paid position based on performance and company needs.
