Software Engineer Internship | HII Mission Technologies

The Tone:
This is an internship at HII Mission Technologies. HII is a trusted partner to the US military, designing, developing, and operating large Live, Virtual, Constructive (LVC) enterprises that prepare warfighters for cross-domain battle. They also maintain and modernize the vast majority of the US Navy fleet and support national security missions for the Department of Energy, including managing sites and cleaning up legacy waste. Mission Technologies delivers all-domain expertise and advanced technologies, leading the data evolution in national defense with solutions in C5ISR, AI, Big Data, cyber operations, synthetic training environments, fleet sustainment, environmental remediation, and unmanned underwater vehicles. This role is crucial in creating and maintaining modeling and simulation training services and applications that enable mission readiness for the US Navy Fleet.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Perform professional administrative work of an introductory nature in assigned functional areas.
• Contribute: Conduct work that is pertinent to your academic field of study.
• Research: Assist with research efforts in particular fields for projects and other objectives.
• Organize: Help arrange meetings, conferences, and project team activities.
• Manage: Support staff in assigned project-based work and/or manage minor administrative projects.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Must be a college student working towards a Bachelor’s degree with more than 60% of the required credits completed, typically a rising sophomore or junior.
• Experience: Must hold and be able to maintain a 3.0 GPA while participating in this internship, along with the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret security clearance.
• Skills: Familiarity with programming languages such as C/C++ and JAVA, an understanding of Agile development methodologies, excellent writing, communication, and listening skills, and critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
• Bonus: Familiarity with web development and architecture, experience with the Linux operating system, a current Secret clearance, and preference for Software and Computer Engineering degrees.
