Software Engineer Intern | Amentum

The Tone:
This is a seasonal internship at Amentum, supporting the critical Space Force Range Contract (SFRC) program. Amentum provides essential services to the Space Force, and this role contributes directly to enhancing operational capabilities. The intern will play a key part in developing and implementing new features for the Stargate Application, directly impacting lab system management and utilization reporting. This position offers a practical opportunity to apply academic knowledge in a real-world defense contracting environment.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Requirements & Implementation: Develop requirements and collaborate with Stargate developers to deploy a new Lab Systems Reservations capability within the Stargate Application.
• Utilization Reports: Work with Stargate developers to create Lab Utilization Metric Reports.
• Transition Data: Assist Stargate developers in transferring lab schedule data from an older Lab Scheduler tool to the Stargate Application.
• Documentation: Create user manuals or training aids for the new Stargate process and document lessons learned throughout the project.
• Training & Support: Train engineering staff and managers on the effective use of the new scheduling tools and communicate lessons learned.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled as a sophomore or above in a college or university program, or a recent graduate within the last year. Interest in Space Force Range Contract (SFRC) related fields such as administration, research, operations, fieldwork, or technical disciplines.
• Experience: Ability to manage tasks, maintain organization, and consistently meet deadlines. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills; willingness to learn, adapt, and work effectively in a team environment. Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
• Bonus: Experience with data entry, research methods, or project coordination. Familiarity with digital collaboration tools like Microsoft Teams and SharePoint. Basic knowledge relevant to the SFRC’s focus area, such as operations, field services, research, conservation, or engineering.
