Social Media Intern | Alliance for American Leadership

The Tone:
This is an internship at Alliance for American Leadership, offering both remote and in-person opportunities across various locations including Washington, D.C.; Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; West Palm Beach, Florida; and Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The Alliance for American Leadership (A4AL.org) operates as a grassroots coalition, bringing together foreign policy experts, veterans, and young professionals united by a dedication to revitalizing American leadership globally. The organization strongly advocates for international humanitarian and development assistance, recognizing its role in strengthening U.S. national security, boosting the economy, and upholding fundamental American values. A4AL members actively support policy changes to bolster foreign aid and work to elect bipartisan Members of Congress who champion diplomacy and development, as demonstrated by recent initiatives like a Hill Day with over 130 advocates and a bipartisan press conference. This role is crucial for transforming complex policy discussions and significant congressional moments into highly engaging social media content that resonates with the public, ultimately making foreign policy impossible to scroll past and helping to shape public opinion on America’s role in the world.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Create and Schedule: Develop and schedule compelling content for major social platforms including LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook, ensuring A4AL’s message reaches a broad audience.
• Produce and Edit: Create and refine short-form video content from live events, congressional hearings, and interviews, transforming policy into engaging visual narratives.
• Trend Monitoring: Continuously monitor social media trends and current events to identify strategic opportunities for A4AL to join relevant conversations and amplify its mission.
• Community Engagement: Actively engage with A4AL’s followers, partner organizations, and the accounts of lawmakers to build community and promote policy discussions.
• Content Management: Design custom graphics using Canva, manage the content calendar, and track post performance to optimize future social media strategy.
• Political Support: Dedicate at least two hours per week to phonebanking for A4AL’s endorsed bipartisan candidates, contributing directly to political outreach and policy advancement.

The Must-Haves
• Background: This is an Entry-Level internship position. Candidates should possess foundational knowledge or a keen interest in social media content creation and digital communication strategies.
• Experience: Demonstrated fluency and practical experience on at least two major social media platforms. Proven skills in either video editing or graphic design are required to produce diverse content formats.
• Skills: Strong visual instincts paired with an authentic, internet-native voice suitable for various digital audiences. Essential qualities include consistent output and responsive communication in a dynamic environment.
