Job Summary

As a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Platform Services, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining the foundational infrastructure that powers our entire ecosystem. You will work on highly scalable, distributed systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability. This role involves deep technical expertise, a strong problem-solving mindset, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver critical platform capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and Development: Lead the design, development, and implementation of highly scalable, fault-tolerant, and performant platform services and APIs using modern programming languages and frameworks.
• System Architecture: Contribute to architectural discussions and decisions, ensuring services are built for reliability, maintainability, and future scalability.
• Code Quality: Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code, actively participating in code reviews and promoting best practices within the team.
• Performance Optimization: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, optimize system efficiency, and ensure services meet stringent latency and throughput requirements.
• Operational Excellence: Implement robust monitoring, alerting, and logging solutions. Participate in on-call rotations to ensure the operational health and stability of production systems.
• Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, other engineering teams, and operations to understand requirements, define technical specifications, and deliver integrated solutions.
• Mentorship: Mentor junior engineers, share knowledge, and contribute to the overall technical growth and culture of the engineering organization.
• Innovation: Research and evaluate new technologies, tools, and methodologies to continuously improve our platform and development processes.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: 5+ years of professional experience in software development, with a significant focus on building backend services and distributed systems.
• Programming Languages: Strong proficiency in one or more of the following: Java, Go, Python, C++, or similar backend languages.
• Distributed Systems: Hands-on experience designing and implementing highly scalable, fault-tolerant, and high-performance distributed systems.
• Databases: Solid understanding and practical experience with relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., Cassandra, MongoDB, DynamoDB).
• Cloud Platforms: Experience with major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) and their relevant services (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda, Kubernetes, GKE, EKS).
• API Design: Demonstrated ability to design and implement RESTful APIs and/or gRPC services.
• Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of debugging complex issues in production environments.
• Team Player: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, agile environment.
• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with message queuing systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS).
• Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger, ELK stack).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Understanding of security best practices for backend services.
• Contributions to open-source projects or active participation in the developer community.
