Senior Planner | Microchip Technology
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Microchip Technology, located in the US. Microchip Technology designs the technology that powers the world around us. This role is central to developing master production plans, managing inventory, and ensuring customer demand is met through effective supply chain operations within a global organization.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Planning & Strategy: Lead the cross-functional Sales/Operation/Inventory Plan (SIOP) monthly cycle to validate output and develop the master production plan, aligning with capacity, sales forecasts, and inventory goals.
• Production Scheduling: Generate and maintain the Master Production Schedule and Production Plans for various models, including Make to Stock, Assemble to Order, and Engineer to Order, ensuring timely releases and requisitions.
• Inventory Optimization: Partner with internal teams such as Marketing, Purchasing, Operations, and Finance to determine desired inventory levels, monitor performance, and lead projects for inventory reduction and positioning.
• System Management & Accuracy: Ensure the correctness of MPS/MRP outputs within the ERP Operating System and manage the Advanced Planning Tool (Smoothie) along with item attributes.
• Operational Execution: Drive production control activities, monitoring starts, in-process, completions, and shipments to meet lead-time and delivery performance, and developing local process improvements.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Senior career level with a Bachelor’s degree in materials/supply chain or a related field, or equivalent experience in materials and supply chain management.
• Experience: 3-5 years of experience in a materials or supply chain environment, with hands-on knowledge of BOM/ECO/PLM process flow and execution, and required experience managing and planning in a machine shop environment.
• Skills: Full working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (Microsoft Dynamics AX preferred), demonstrated expertise in lean manufacturing and JIT techniques, and strong interface capability managing customers and internal stakeholder expectations.
• Bonus: APICS certification and advanced Microsoft Excel skills are preferred.
