Senior Payroll Associate | Norway | Deel

The Tone:
This is a full-time Senior Payroll Associate role at Deel, based in Norway. This role is crucial for overseeing accurate and compliant payroll processing for Norwegian employees, leveraging deep technical knowledge to implement process improvements and ensure regulatory adherence, thereby contributing to the infrastructure for the future of global work.

• Mission: This person takes ownership of payroll processing for Norwegian employees, provides guidance to junior team members, and implements process improvements to ensure compliance across assigned payroll operations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Oversight: Oversee the comprehensive processing of all payroll data specifically for Norwegian employees, ensuring timely and accurate execution of payroll cycles from start to finish.
• Record Maintenance: Maintain precise and consistently up-to-date employee records, diligently managing changes related to new hires, terminations, compensation adjustments, and other relevant payroll data.
• Data Verification: Verify and rigorously reconcile all employee-related data, which includes salaries, reported hours worked, and various statutory and voluntary deductions, to guarantee accuracy prior to payroll finalization.
• Tax & Compliance: Assist proactively with all required payroll tax calculations and subsequent filings for Norwegian authorities, simultaneously ensuring strict compliance with all pertinent Norwegian payroll laws and regulations, and staying informed of updates.
• Process Leadership: Lead the strategic implementation of new payroll processes and systems, identifying opportunities for efficiency and automation, and guiding junior team members through new procedures and best practices.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field from an accredited institution is required, combined with deep technical knowledge of payroll systems and regulations relevant to a senior-level individual contributor role.
• Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll or a closely related field, with a focus on taking ownership of processing activities and implementing improvements.
• Skills: Strong knowledge of Norwegian payroll laws and regulations, proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets for data management and analysis, and attention to detail for accuracy in all payroll operations.
