Senior Internal Consultant | Medical University of South Carolina

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Medical University of South Carolina, located in Charleston, SC. The MUSC Health Consulting and Service Delivery team is a multifaceted group dedicated to achieving organizational excellence through enterprise transformation, system alignment, performance accountability, and leading project management. This role is crucial for partnering with leaders across the organization, guiding the planning and execution of strategic and operational initiatives, providing essential decision support, and continuously monitoring performance to solve complex problems and drive lasting improvements across the health system.

• Mission: Identify opportunities, develop operational plans, and support accountability for performance metrics across all strategic pillars.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Advisory Consulting: Provide client-facing advisory, program management, process improvement, and other consultative support to executive leadership, clinical centers, business units, and functional teams across the health system, acting as a collaborative liaison.
• Operational Planning: Support the ICCE Accountability Operational Planning Program, which involves developing operational plans for service line structures and connecting division-level execution to enterprise-level initiatives that align with strategic priorities.
• Strategic Alignment: Contribute to the Office of the CEO by supporting the alignment of strategic planning with operational execution and connecting these to enterprise-level initiatives that reinforce the health system’s strategic intent.
• Performance Management: Proactively track and monitor opportunities for improvement and organizational expectations of leaders, connecting available resources to enhance performance and drive value across the health system.
• Digital Innovation: Identify and champion opportunities for intelligent automation, AI-enabled workflows, and digital innovation to reduce administrative burden and strengthen the quality of decision-making throughout the enterprise.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Master’s degree required. Master of Health Administration (MHA) or Master of Business Administration (MBA) preferred. Other relevant graduate disciplines will be considered.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in healthcare administration, management consulting, program management, or operational performance improvement. Experience within an academic medical center or large, integrated health system is strongly preferred.
• Skills: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• Bonus: AI certifications in healthcare AI applications, AI strategy, or equivalent; experience with AI agent development or intelligent automation platforms; Organization Change Management certification.
