Senior Director, People & Culture Business Partner | Greystar
The Tone:
This is a hybrid full-time role at Greystar, supporting operations across the East Coast of the United States and Canada. Greystar is a leading global real estate platform managing over $350 billion in assets and operating more than one million rental units worldwide. This role is crucial for driving people strategy and outcomes, enhancing the team member experience, and strengthening operational performance and leadership capabilities across a significant territory. The Senior Director serves as a strategic partner, translating strategy into action and solving complex business challenges to deliver measurable impact.

• Pay: $150000–$200000 yearly
• Team: Reports to the Managing Director, People & Culture
• Mission: Owns the full team member lifecycle, enhancing team member experience while strengthening operational performance, leadership capability, and organizational effectiveness across the designated territory.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Strategic Partnership: Advise regional leadership on workforce strategy, organizational design, and culture, using data and business acumen to drive improved business outcomes.
• Talent Management: Lead workforce planning, strengthen succession planning, and facilitate leadership development for key roles, including Community Managers and Regional Property Managers.
• Culture & Experience: Champion company values and foster an inclusive, high-performing culture by utilizing engagement data and supporting M&A integration efforts.
• Performance Coaching: Coach leaders to strengthen performance and decision-making, while driving consistent, high-quality performance management practices that reinforce accountability.
• Compliance & Risk: Partner with Employee Relations and Legal to manage complex issues, mitigate risk, and ensure consistent application of policies and compliance with labor laws.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. This is a Director-level role requiring progressive HR leadership experience. Core domain knowledge should be in property management, real estate, hospitality, or multi-site environments.
• Experience: 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, with specific experience supporting operations in Canada. Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change, talent development, and workforce optimization at scale, along with end-to-end M&A experience. Deep expertise in employee relations, performance management, and leadership coaching is essential.
• Skills: Strong business acumen, proven ability to influence leaders and drive people strategies, excellent analytical skills to translate data into actionable insights, strong communication skills, and the ability to operate effectively in a complex environment. Knowledge of employment laws and compliance requirements across multiple states is also required.
• Bonus: PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-SCP certification is preferred.
