The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Scotiabank, located in New York, NY. Scotiabank Global Banking and Markets is a leading Canadian Capital Markets and Investment Banking business with a growing platform in the US and Latin America, operating globally for over 100 years. This role is crucial for executing a broad range of stimulating and challenging M&A transactions, affording analysts significant responsibility. It supports clients’ financing and strategic development needs through diligent effort and initiative, interacting directly with senior executives and other departments across the firm.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Analysis: Perform comprehensive financial analysis, create and maintain detailed financial models, and conduct valuation work.
• Data Management: Collect, consolidate, and interpret company and industry data for financial and written analysis.
• Transaction Support: Support transaction execution, including coordinating due diligence processes and liaising with client/advisor counterparts.
• Presentation Preparation: Prepare client presentations by compiling data, assembling materials, and drafting confidential offering memoranda and board presentations for senior bankers.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree; a major in Business, Math, Engineering, Science, or a numerate field is beneficial.
• Experience: 2+ years of work experience in Investment Banking, M&A, Financial Services, or Consulting, with a proven record of outstanding academic and extracurricular achievement.
• Skills: Strong quantitative skills focused on financial analysis, accounting, and financial theory; excellent written and verbal communication skills; and expert command of Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel.
