Senior Analyst, Corporate Credit Risk | Mashreq

The Tone:
This is a role at Mashreq, a leading banking institution, located in Egypt. This position is crucial for maintaining the bank’s financial health and regulatory compliance by diligently assessing and managing corporate credit risks within the Corporate Banking Group. The Senior Analyst will play a key role in safeguarding the bank’s assets and ensuring sound lending practices.

The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Location: In-person, Egypt

• Team: Corporate Credit Risk, working closely with the Corporate Banking Group and reporting to Corporate Risk Approver/Head of Corporate Credit Risk.
• Mission: To analyze, review, and recommend credit cases and manage corporate credit risk in line with bank strategy and Central Bank requirements.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Credit Assessment: Analyze, review, and recommend cases and requests presented by the Corporate Banking Group Team for new facilities and renewals of existing facilities, ensuring alignment with the bank’s strategy and Central Bank requirements.
• Portfolio Management: Perform proactive ongoing credit monitoring and comprehensive risk management at both client and portfolio levels, in cooperation with the Corporate Risk Approver and Head of Corporate Credit Risk; additionally, assist in managing and analyzing the CBG credit portfolio, including industry and single-obligor/group concentrations.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all credit approvals comply strictly with Central Bank of Egypt regulations and the bank’s internal policies and procedures, while staying updated on market and regulatory issues affecting credit decisions.
• Problem Loan Identification: Monitor past dues and TODs (Time Overdue) within the corporate portfolio, timely escalating accounts that may move to classified status, identifying problem lending situations early, and recommending corrective actions to minimize losses and maximize recoveries, including recommending provisions when required.
• Risk Reporting & Support: Ensure appropriate credit risk ratings are assigned and communicated to the Business Team, and act as secretary to Riskco and other assigned credit committees, contributing to effective governance and risk oversight.

The Must-Haves
• Background: University graduate with a senior career level in Credit Risk Management.
• Experience: 7+ years of experience, primarily in Credit Risk Management.
• Skills: Good knowledge of SME banking, loan documentation, banking operations, accounting, treasury and capital market products, local banking laws, and legal aspects of corporate lending; strong awareness of the Egyptian market and Central Bank regulations; thorough understanding of bank policies, credit parameters, and regulations; excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Bonus: Good people management skills; comfortable with technology; proactive with a strong team-player mindset and willingness to implement change; excellent interpersonal, presentation, leadership, communication, and PC skills; knowledge of the country’s political and business environment.
