Staff Accountant | Formic
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Formic, a company dedicated to transforming American manufacturing by making automation accessible to every factory through a Robotics-as-a-Service model. This role is crucial within the Finance team, which ensures disciplined growth, intelligent capital deployment, and long-term financial resilience as Formic scales nationally. The Staff Accountant contributes directly to maintaining strong financial operations and accurate reporting, supporting strategic decision-making within the company.

• Team: Part of Formic’s Finance team, which oversees capital strategy, treasury, credit, financial operations, compliance, accounting, and investor engagement.
• Mission: Ensure accurate financial reporting and efficient accounting operations to support Formic’s disciplined growth and resilience.
• Tech Stack: Excel, Google Sheets, NetSuite
What You’ll Actually Do
• Audit Support: Facilitate external audits by responding to requests and coordinating supporting materials across various systems and stakeholders.
• Month-End Close: Execute key aspects of the month-end close process, including preparing journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules, aiming to improve accuracy and timeliness.
• Financial Reporting: Contribute to internal financial reporting schedules and provide essential support for management reporting activities.
• Operational Accounting: Play an active role in maintenance cost reporting and tracking, identifying and resolving accounting discrepancies and process gaps.
• Process Improvement & Inventory: Partner with the Supply Chain Manager to implement robust inventory (parts and assets) management processes, collaborate on operational excellence, complete quarterly inventory counts, and document recurring accounting procedures.
The Must-Haves
• Background: 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, specifically within general ledger accounting, month-end close, journal entry preparation, and account reconciliations.
• Experience: Proven experience supporting financial audits, managing audit readiness activities, or fulfilling external auditor requests. Demonstrated ability to operate independently, manage multiple priorities effectively, and ensure work is completed thoroughly.
• Skills: Strong proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets, including comfort in developing and utilizing supporting schedules and complex account reconciliations. Possesses exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and excellent follow-through on tasks, alongside exceptional analytical and project management skills.
• Bonus: Experience with NetSuite or similar accounting systems. Proven ability to improve close processes, accounting documentation, or audit support workflows. Prior experience in an environment with evolving systems and processes.
