Varsity Tutors builds an advanced live learning platform that leverages technology, AI, and learning science to create personalized learning experiences. This role is crucial for transforming how students learn by providing customized SAT Math instruction, directly impacting their scores and fostering a passion for learning.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Instruct: Provide personalized 1-on-1 online tutoring to individual students or accept on-demand instant tutoring requests via the Live Learning Platform.
• Teach Content: Deliver comprehensive instruction on SAT Math topics, including linear equations, systems, inequalities, algebraic expressions, quadratic functions, exponential growth, ratios and proportions, percentages, data interpretation, statistics, geometry, trigonometry, and complex numbers.
• Develop Strategies: Guide students through strategic problem-solving by teaching multiple solution pathways, estimation techniques, and pattern recognition, while also emphasizing approach selection (e.g., plugging in numbers, backsolving, algebraic methods) and effective time management across 58 questions.
• Customize Learning: Adapt instruction through the use of timed practice sections, detailed error analysis, creation of personalized formula sheets, and targeted drills for weak areas, tailoring teaching to meet individual learning needs and styles.
• Utilize Technology: Enhance tutoring sessions with real-time instructional support, lesson generation, and engagement features provided by the AI-powered Tutor Copilot to save prep time and focus on impactful teaching.
• Manage Operations: Invoice for completed tutoring sessions, with Varsity Tutors handling all payment logistics and ensuring fast, reliable compensation.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Possess advanced content mastery across all SAT Math topics, demonstrating deep knowledge of linear equations, algebraic expressions, quadratic functions, data interpretation, geometry, and trigonometry, along with the ability to explain calculator-permitted versus no-calculator strategies and grid-in answer formatting for score maximization.
• Experience: Requires a minimum SAT Math score of 720 and a proven track record of helping students significantly improve their math subscores, indicating familiarity with SAT Math question distribution and common pitfalls like misreading questions or sign errors.
• Skills: Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style, coupled with the ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to individual learning needs and styles effectively.
• Skills: Skilled at teaching students how to approach SAT Math questions strategically, including guiding them through word problem translation, equation setup, graph interpretation, and identifying the fastest solution methods.
