What We Look For In a SAT Math Tutor:

• Advanced Math Content Mastery:
  • Deep knowledge of SAT Math topics including linear equations, systems, inequalities, algebraic expressions, quadratic functions, exponential growth, ratios and proportions, percentages, data interpretation, statistics, geometry, trigonometry, and complex numbers.
  • Ability to explain calculator-permitted versus no-calculator strategies and grid-in answer formatting for score maximization.
• Strategic Problem-Solving & Reasoning:
  • Skilled at teaching multiple solution pathways, estimation techniques, and pattern recognition in SAT math questions.
  • Guides students through word problem translation, equation setup, graph interpretation, and identifying fastest solution methods.
  • Emphasizes strategic approach selection (plugging in numbers, backsolving, algebraic methods) and time management across 58 questions.
• Test Strategy & Adaptive Instruction:
  • Familiar with SAT Math question distribution, common traps (misreading questions, sign errors), and high-frequency topics.
  • Adapts instruction through timed practice sections, error analysis, formula sheet creation, and targeted drills for weak areas.
  • Requires a minimum SAT Math score of 720 and a proven track record helping students improve math subscores significantly.
• Effective Teaching Methods:
  • Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
  • Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
  • Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
