The Tone:

This role is crucial for delivering specialized Pre-Calculus instruction, making a significant impact on students’ academic understanding and helping them achieve their specific educational goals in preparation for calculus and AP examinations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Provide personalized 1-on-1 online instruction to individual students, adapting to their specific learning needs and styles.
• Guide students through advanced Pre-Calculus topics, fostering conceptual understanding and strong problem-solving skills.
• Adapt instructional methods using graphing technology, visual representations, and scaffolded problems to bridge knowledge gaps.
• Utilize the AI-powered Tutor Copilot to enhance sessions with real-time instructional support, lesson generation, and engagement features.
• Invoice for completed tutoring sessions; Varsity Tutors handles all payment logistics for fast and reliable compensation.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Deep knowledge of advanced functions (polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, trigonometric), analytic geometry including conic sections, parametric and polar equations, vectors, matrices, sequences and series, and limits. This includes the ability to explain function behavior, asymptotes, discontinuities, and effectively prepare students for calculus concepts and AP examinations.
• Experience: Proven experience delivering online Pre-Calculus tutoring, skilled at analyzing function composition, inverses, and transformations step-by-step, and guiding students through graphing complex functions, solving trigonometric equations, and understanding series convergence.
• Skills: Advanced subject mastery across various precalculus curricula, conceptual teaching emphasizing mathematical reasoning and real-world applications, adaptive instruction using multiple approaches to explain concepts, strong communication skills, and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
