SAP iXp Summer Intern – Business AI Research | SAP

This is a summer internship at SAP, located in Newport Beach, CA. This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the development of cutting-edge Generative AI models, shaping the future of AI systems deployed across SAP products and advancing business applications.

The TL;DR

• Team: The ABAP Foundation Model team, part of the Generative AI foundation within Business AI at SAP.
• Mission: Advance the development of domain-specific foundation models for SAP applications by creating and refining Foundation Models using SAP Business Data.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Experimentation: Design and run experiments for continuous pre-training on domain-specific corpora.
• Data Development: Develop datasets and pipelines for instruction tuning and supervised fine-tuning.
• Data Improvement: Explore methods for synthetic data generation to improve data coverage and quality.
• Evaluation: Build and evaluate benchmarks for SAP-relevant tasks, such as reasoning over structured data or API understanding.
• Analysis & Presentation: Analyze model performance and present findings to the team.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science from a top STEM university, or experience as a PhD graduate student in software and modern AI technology. Must be currently enrolled, or recently graduated (within 6 months of start date) from an academic program or coding academy/bootcamp/apprenticeship.
• Experience: Experience with data science methodology and a remarkable academic track record.
• Skills: Data-driven, systemic thinking, and continuous improvement mindset; ability to solve complex topics and drive results; self-driven and proactive; excellent team player and collaboration; excellent communication skills in English.
