Sales Representative, Small Business Services | ADP

The Tone:
This is a full-time, field-based sales role at ADP, operating within a defined geographic territory. ADP is a global provider of cloud-based human capital management (HCM) solutions encompassing HR, payroll, talent, time, tax, and benefits administration. This role is crucial for expanding ADP’s client base and driving revenue by bringing industry-leading solutions to small businesses. It offers uncapped commissions, career advancement, and a supportive environment for individuals ready to make a significant impact.

The TL;DR

• Location: Field-based, within a defined geographic territory
• Pay: $35900–$77700 yearly
• Mission: Drive business growth by identifying, acquiring, and expanding relationships with small business clients (1-49 employees) for ADP’s comprehensive HR solutions.

What You’ll Actually Do
• New Client Acquisition: Identify, target, and sign new small business clients (1-49 employees) for ADP’s payroll, HR, benefits, and other solutions within a defined territory.
• Existing Client Growth: Strategically sell additional cloud-based human resources solutions and other offerings to existing clients to deepen relationships and revenue.
• Relationship Building: Cultivate new relationships, gather leads from established business partners, and set appointments daily to generate a robust sales pipeline.
• Needs Assessment: Accurately assess client and prospect needs to recommend and present the most suitable ADP solutions, acting as a trusted advisor.
• Field Sales & Closure: Spend significant time in the field, actively closing business and achieving sales goals independently and collaboratively within assigned geography.

The Must-Haves
• Background: No specific college degree is strictly required; the ability to perform the job’s tasks is paramount. Prior work experience or internships (one to two years) in customer-facing roles such as Retail, Marketing, Business Development, Food Service, or Insurance Sales are highly valued. Military experience is recognized and appreciated.
• Experience: Demonstrated ability to operate independently and collaboratively to achieve objectives, coupled with a track record of cultivating relationships and executing a strategic approach to client engagement.
• Skills: An upbeat, persistent style with the ability to cold call without fear of rejection, coupled with excellent time management and professional presentation skills (written, in-person, and over the phone). Capacity to solve problems and find solutions in times of change, along with a continuous learning mindset to question and improve processes. Integrity, resilience, positivity, and a refuse-to-lose attitude are essential.
• Bonus: Prior quota-carrying sales experience and a proven ability to build a network, including effective use of social media for sales purposes.
