This pivotal Sales Account Manager role is seeking a driven and results-oriented professional to manage and grow a specific territory. The position involves a dual focus on new business development and the meticulous maintenance of existing customer relationships. The ideal candidate will leverage a strong understanding of sales processes, market dynamics, and customer relationship management to achieve ambitious sales targets and significantly contribute to the organization’s sustained success.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Drive Sales Growth: Develop new accounts, strategically expand the customer base, and nurture existing client relationships to consistently meet or exceed annual sales and tonnage targets and ensure optimal profit margins across all activities.
• Strategic Account Management: Cultivate and strengthen relationships with key decision-makers in current and prospective customer portfolios, acting as the primary point of contact for the assigned territory for all quotes, contracts, issues, and opportunities.
• Market & Business Development: Proactively identify, explore, and capitalize on new sales opportunities within the assigned territory, while maintaining comprehensive knowledge of Samuel’s capabilities, product offerings, and competitor profiles, and representing Samuel at relevant trade shows and conferences.
• Financial & Operational Planning: Prepare and submit accurate quarterly sales forecasts for budgeting and strategic planning, deliver compelling value-added propositions, and effectively manage inventory levels and operational expenses to maximize efficiency.
The Must-Haves
• Background: A college degree is preferred. This role highly values prior experience within the metals industry.
• Experience: Demonstrated ability to work independently, coupled with strong organizational and time management skills to consistently meet deadlines. The role requires a proactive problem-solver with a strong understanding of sales processes, market dynamics, and customer relationship management.
• Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills are essential. Required technical proficiency includes AS 400, advanced proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, along with familiarity with internet navigation and other miscellaneous computer software required by suppliers.
• Bonus: Prior experience supporting defense and/or government customers is considered a significant asset.
