Safety Intern
Position Summary:
The Safety Intern will be assigned to a specific job site to support the safety team while progressing toward established internship objectives. This role involves close collaboration with the site safety team to observe and assist with daily operations in both office and field environments, providing a comprehensive learning experience in industrial heavy civil construction safety.

Internship Program Details:
This anticipated twelve to fifteen-week internship program is structured to provide progressively increased skills and contribution. The Student will rotate through learning objectives in four to five-week increments, fostering comprehensive development within the safety domain.
Key Responsibilities:
• Commit to punctuality and readiness to work at the designated job site each day.
• Actively assist in the preparation and conduction of daily morning safety meetings, reinforcing site safety culture.
• Provide valuable support to the site safety team in executing thorough site safety audits, identifying potential hazards and ensuring compliance.
• Participate in client site meetings to gain first-hand insight into effective client-contractor partnerships and the dynamics of professional relationships within the industry.
• Collaborate closely with the site safety team to learn and assist in the effective management of and response to jobsite injuries, including incident reporting and investigation processes.
• Proactively develop a thorough understanding of and adherence to specific safety protocols related to Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) and general heavy civil construction activities at the assigned job site.
• Engage actively in weekly safety team calls, contributing to discussions and providing constructive feedback where appropriate to foster continuous improvement.
• Undertake additional tasks and projects as assigned by the Safety Director, contributing to the overall objectives of the safety department.
Qualifications:
• Required Skills:
• Demonstrated proficiency in essential computer programs including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
• Strong ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines, all while maintaining a steadfast focus on quality work and continuous process improvement.
• Highly detail-oriented, with a proactive and self-motivated approach to learning and task completion.
• Clear willingness and demonstrable initiative to quickly learn and adapt to new programs, systems, and tools as they are introduced.
• Educational Requirements:
• Currently enrolled as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s degree program with a focus on Safety Management, Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
• Previous internship experience in a relevant field is preferred, though not strictly required.
Travel Requirements:
• This position will require travel to designated sites as directed by the Safety Director.
