Job Description: Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) Instructor (Certificated Staff)

Modesto City Schools is seeking highly qualified and dedicated certificated staff to contribute to our educational programs, specifically within the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) assignment. This role requires specific military certification and state teaching credentials.

Key Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Successful certification by the United States Army is a prerequisite for this position.
  • Candidates must possess an appropriate credential issued related to the specific assignment and grade level within Modesto City Schools.
  • English Learners (EL) authorization is required for all certificated positions within the district.
  • The specific credential required for this role is a Designated Subjects Special Subjects Teaching Credential – Reserve Officers Training Corps.

Please mark these critical dates on your calendar:

  • New Hire Bootcamp: All new hire certificated staff are required to participate in our New Hire Bootcamp from July 28, 2026, through August 3, 2026.
  • Returning Certificated Staff Report Date: All returning certificated staff are expected to report to work on August 4, 2026.

How to Obtain a Copy of Your Credential:

To ensure you have the necessary documentation for your application or employment, please follow these steps to obtain an official copy of your credential from the Commission on Teacher Credentialing:

  1. Access the secured search portal on the Commission on Teacher Credentialing website.
  2. Enter your birthdate and social security number as prompted.
  3. All your issued documents and credentials will be listed.
  4. Select the appropriate document number corresponding to your “Designated Subjects Special Subjects Teaching Credential – Reserve Officers Training Corps.”
  5. Choose the “print” option.
  6. Change the destination to PDF and save the document for your records.
