Risk Management Development Program 2027 | Citizens

The Tone:
This is a full-time development program at Citizens, with rotations based in Boston, MA; Johnston, RI; and Westwood, MA. Citizens Bank is one of the nation’s largest banks. This two-year program is designed to cultivate the next generation of risk leaders by providing hands-on experience, comprehensive training, and exposure to executive leadership within the Corporate Risk Division. Participants will develop foundational financial, credit, risk, and statistical analysis skills crucial for ensuring the safety and soundness of the bank.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Complete: Four 6-month rotations within Credit Risk, Enterprise Risk, Operational Risk, Compliance, and Risk Modeling functional areas.
• Accelerate: Develop foundational financial, credit, risk, and statistical analysis skills through a combination of classes, self-study, and on-the-job training.
• Collaborate: Partner with your RMDP cohort on a Capstone project, investigating a relevant bank topic and presenting findings to senior risk leadership, including the Chief Risk Officer.
• Participate: Engage in Early Career Development Programming (ECDP), which includes professional development workshops, networking, community service, and a Strategic Challenge.
• Understand: Gain exposure to key Citizens Bank business divisions and develop a strong understanding of the Citizens Bank risk management framework and principles.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Decision Sciences, Risk Management, History, or Philosophy; Entry-Level position.
• Experience: Expected graduation date of May 2027; Minimum GPA of 3.00 required; Successfully complete a video interview assessment within 4 days of receiving the link.
• Skills: Data analysis, Analytical and critical thinking, Knowledge of relational databases, Proficiency with statistical software (SAS, Stata, R, SPSS, or MATLAB), Experience with Generative AI Products and concepts.
• Bonus: Minimum GPA of 3.50 preferred; Internship or relevant corporate exposure in the financial services industry preferred; Basic knowledge of compliance and regulatory frameworks as well as U.S. and International accounting standards is beneficial; Natural curiosity and ability to use reasoning and technology to create solutions to complex topics.
