This role at Lowe’s is focused on providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a smooth, safe, and organized retail experience. The ideal candidate will be proactive in assisting customers, knowledgeable about products, and vigilant about store security and safety standards. This position involves a blend of direct customer interaction, operational tasks, and adherence to company policies and procedures, with opportunities for cross-functional training.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Service Excellence: Provides SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) customer service by consistently applying Lowe’s customer service policies, procedures, and programs.
- Proactive Customer Engagement: Actively seeks out customers to understand their needs and provides comprehensive assistance, including locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and/or loading merchandise.
- Knowledgeable Support: Responds to customer and associate questions promptly and accurately, guiding them through the store and explaining projects or product usage as needed.
- Customer Appreciation: Demonstrates genuine appreciation towards all customers.
- Product Information & Communication: Effectively communicates detailed information regarding stock availability, special order merchandise, product features, benefits, applications, and warranty information related to Lowe’s programs.
- Department-Specific Tasks (Tool Rental): Writes customer contracts and invoices specifically for equipment rental and tool repairs within the Tool Rental Department.
- Cross-Functional Training: Engages in training across various store departments to enhance overall customer service delivery.
- Loss Prevention & Security: Identifies and reports common signs of shoplifting, theft, and other security risks to management and/or Asset Protection.
- Store Standards & Organization: Ensures compliance with housekeeping standards and programs, such as Zone Recovery, to maintain a clean and organized store and work environment.
- Safety & Security: Actively maintains a safe and secure work environment, which may include conducting daily safety reviews, identifying hazards, keeping aisles clear, and securing doors and gates.
- Safety Protocol Adherence: Complies with all relevant safety requirements for the role, including top stock safety, reinstalling safety cables, using aisle blockers, tether lines on power equipment, spotters, and safety devices.
- Equipment Operation: Operates various store equipment as required by the specific role and department (e.g., Zebra phone, telephone, paging system, copiers, fax machines, computers, CCTV surveillance system, key cutter, panel saw, paint mixer, flooring cutters, compacter baler, tool rentals).
Required Qualifications
- Computer Proficiency: Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
- Retail Technology Experience: Less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
- Retail Experience: Less than 1 year of retail experience, encompassing tasks such as identifying and selling products based on customer needs; explaining warranties, product features, and benefits; assisting customers in locating products; building customer relationships; identifying and resolving customer issues; performing zone recovery; and maintaining housekeeping standards.
- Licensure/Registration: Ability to obtain sales-related licensure or registration as may be required by law.
