Senior Accountant, Program Accounting | Comcast Cable

What You’ll Actually Do
• Regulatory Payment Management: Research contracts and regulations to determine proper calculations and prepare payments for regulatory authorities.
• Financial Account Maintenance: Maintain work papers for prepaid and accrual accounts, ensuring balance sheets are accurately stated and reconciled to the general ledger by researching variances, determining root causes, and recommending adjustments. This also involves assisting with the internal and external audit process as needed.
• Accounting Transaction Processing: Enter monthly journal entries to properly record accounting transactions, ensuring each entry has proper backup to substantiate it.
• Financial Analysis and Reporting: Review financial statements for operating trends and results, meticulously researching variances to forecast, budget, prior month, and prior year. Subsequently, prepare comprehensive financial reports with analyzed data for management review, and research complex accounting data in order to comply with new accounting policy implementation.
• Process Optimization: Research and develop automated Oracle routines such as mass allocations and reoccurring journal entries, and identify ways of streamlining and standardizing processes to support the Accounting function, consistent with independent judgment and discretion.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field, with in-depth experience, knowledge, and skills in the accounting discipline. This role requires an individual who usually determines their own work priorities and acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
• Experience: 5-7 years of relevant professional experience, including preparing calculations and payments for a company, maintaining work papers for prepaid and accrual accounts, and entering monthly journal entries.
• Skills: Accounting, Accounting Journal Entries, Balance Sheets, Financial Reports, Financial Statements.
• Bonus: Applicants holding a combination of coursework and experience, or extensive related professional experience, may also be considered.
