About the Job Description:

This is a temporary position designed for RCP (Respiratory Care Practitioner) students who are currently enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Therapy School.

Job Overview:

Purpose: The role exists to provide employment for RCP students until they successfully obtain their limited permit from the State Medical Board of Ohio.
Eligibility: Students must obtain this permit within department-specified timeframes; failure to do so will result in ineligibility for the position.
Reporting: The individual will work under the direct supervision of the Medical Director.
Role: The primary responsibility is to assist licensed respiratory care practitioners in patient care settings.
Scope: Duties are appropriate to the student’s level of training and competency, with specific stipulations outlined in performance measures and standards.
Key Tasks: This may include developing assessment skills (under licensed RCP direction), cleaning and assembling department equipment, performing EKGs, and providing necessary supplies to licensed RCPs.

Job Requirements:

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Current enrollment in an approved Allied Health program.
• Specifically, enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program.
• Possess knowledge of Cardiopulmonary physiology, other sciences related to respiratory care, and relevant pharmacology.

Job Responsibilities (Detailed Duties):

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Assembling equipment and circuitry, ensuring all required supplies and accessories are present.
• Cleaning and disinfecting department equipment in strict adherence to infection control guidelines.
• Transporting supplies to and from central processing areas.
• Providing licensed RCPs with necessary supplies and actively replenishing inventory levels in storerooms.
• Demonstrating proficiency and skill in performing EKGs and other activities as directed by a licensed RCP.

Working Conditions (Physical Demands):

The role involves various physical activities, including:

Frequently: Hearing (conversation), lifting less than 10 lbs, standing, color vision, and walking.
Occasionally: Lifting between 11-50 lbs, pulling, pushing, reaching, sitting, and stooping.
Rarely: Climbing, kneeling, and lifting 50+ lbs.
