Research Fellow – Gastroenterology – Grover lab | Mayo Clinic
The Tone:
This is a temporary research position at Mayo Clinic, located in Rochester, MN. Mayo Clinic is a world-renowned institution dedicated to improving patient health through integrated clinical practice, education, and research. This role specifically supports Dr. Madhu Grover’s Gastroenterology research laboratory, which is committed to advancing the understanding of gastrointestinal disorders. The Research Fellow will contribute directly to cutting-edge discoveries that enhance patient outcomes by investigating the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying enteric neuromuscular apparatus disorders.

• Mission: Advance the understanding of gastrointestinal disorders and develop future diagnostic and therapeutic strategies by identifying cellular and molecular defects in human tissue samples.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Research Execution: Conduct laboratory-based research studies under the mentorship of Dr. Grover and collaborating investigators.
• Experimental Work: Perform experiments utilizing a range of molecular, cellular, imaging, and omics-based techniques.
• Data Analysis: Analyze and interpret experimental data to draw meaningful scientific conclusions.
• Sample Processing: Participate in the processing and evaluation of human tissue samples for research purposes.
• Scientific Contribution: Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts, abstract development, and scientific presentations.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Doctorate Degree (Ph.D., or Ph.D. M.D. degree) in a field relevant to the research program, demonstrating the potential for research.
• Experience: Completion of no more than one prior postdoctoral fellowship (at Mayo Clinic or elsewhere), with research potential evidenced by training and peer-reviewed publications.
• Skills: Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, coupled with an ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
• Bonus: Proof of English proficiency is required for J-1 Short-Term Scholars, Research Scholars, Professors, Specialists, and Student Interns sponsored by Mayo Clinic.
