Research Associate (Natural Sciences) | Battelle
The Tone:
This is a full-time Research Associate role at Battelle, offering a hybrid work arrangement. Battelle conducts critical research and development, manages national laboratories, and delivers essential services for a diverse range of clients, from multi-national corporations to government agencies. In this role, you will apply scientific skills to complete various research tasks, contribute to reports, and support the broader mission of solving humanity’s challenges.
The TL;DR

• Type: Flexible, compressed work schedule (every other Friday off); Hybrid (60% in-office, 40% remote)
• Location: Hybrid
• Mission: Apply job skills and procedures to complete tasks, communicate research results, and contribute to reports in natural sciences.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Apply job skills to semi-routine assignments, identifying deviations from accepted practice.
• Guide less experienced staff and contribute input to their performance reviews.
• Verify the accuracy, applicability, and reasonableness of project work, making recommendations as encouraged.
• Conduct standard and non-standard tasks under the close supervision of experienced staff.
• Clearly communicate routine research procedures and results for inclusion in reports.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Associate degree in a natural science field such as biochemistry, biology, botany, ecology, environmental science, microbiology, physiology, zoology, physics, chemistry, geology, materials, or related subjects; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience: 1 year of applicable experience, demonstrating sufficient technical knowledge to perform routine assignments.
• Skills: Ability to operate basic equipment, follow standard procedures, perform routine specified analysis of data, and recognize deviations from accepted practice.
• Bonus: May be expected to pursue various certifications or continuing educational units as needed.
