Equity Research Associate – Internet & Consumer Technology | Needham & Company
The Tone:
This is a full-time position at Needham & Company, located in New York. Needham & Company, LLC operates as a full-service investment bank. This role is crucial for supporting the Senior Analyst in delivering extensive company and industry research, constructing detailed financial models, and marketing research recommendations to clients and institutional salespeople. The Associate’s work directly contributes to the firm’s analytical output and client engagement in the dynamic Internet and Consumer Technology sectors.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Build: Build strong industry knowledge of the Internet & Consumer Technology sectors.
• Model: Develop, maintain and forecast detailed earnings models, including revenue models, income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow.
• Analyze: Analyze industry market, economic, and technology trends to inform research.
• Report: Assist in writing reports and notes on companies within the coverage universe, related companies, and broader industry analysis.
• Connect: Develop relationships with management teams and industry contacts, and communicate with the sales force, traders, clients, and company management teams.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred, with high fluency in accounting and financial statement analysis.
• Experience: 1-3 years of experience in finance or accounting, preferably within Equity Research or Investment Banking.
• Skills: Advanced knowledge of Excel, highly detail-oriented, and exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Bonus: Progress towards CFA is a plus. Possession of or willingness to obtain Securities Industry Essentials, Series 63, 7, 86, and 87. A passionate interest in equity markets and technology is also beneficial.
