Equity Research Associate – Internet & Consumer Technology | Needham
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Needham & Company, LLC, located in New York. Needham is a full-service investment bank that provides extensive financial services. This role supports a Senior Analyst in delivering comprehensive company and industry research, constructing detailed financial models, and marketing written research recommendations to clients and institutional salespeople. The position is critical for providing data-driven insights that inform investment decisions in the Internet & Consumer Technology sectors.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Develop industry expertise: Build comprehensive knowledge of the Internet & Consumer Technology sectors.
• Construct financial models: Create, update, and project detailed earnings models including revenue, income statement, balance sheets, and cash flow.
• Analyze market dynamics: Evaluate industry market, economic, and technology trends.
• Produce research content: Assist in authoring reports and notes on covered companies, related entities, and broader industry analysis.
• Engage with stakeholders: Develop relationships with management teams and industry contacts, and communicate with sales, traders, clients, and company management.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred, with a focus on core financial principles.
• Experience: 1–3 years of experience in finance or accounting, preferably within Equity Research or Investment Banking.
• Skills: High fluency in accounting and financial statement analysis; Advanced knowledge of Excel; Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; Ability to work independently; Strong work ethic with a focus on teamwork.
• Bonus: Progress towards CFA; Possession or willingness to obtain Securities Industry Essentials, Series 63, 7, 86 and 87; Passionate interest in equity markets and technology.
