Regional Sales Manager | Leica Microsystems
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Leica Microsystems, located remotely covering Canada and Midwest US. Leica Microsystems builds groundbreaking optical and digital solutions, leading the market in microscopy, imaging, and analysis for life sciences, diagnostics, and biotechnology. This role is crucial for recruiting, retaining, and developing top sales talent, providing strategic direction, and ensuring the sustainable growth of research microscopy sales. • Location: Remote, Canada (Ontario), Canada (Alberta), Canada (Quebec), Canada (British Columbia) – Toronto, Edmonton, Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver, Calgary, and Midwest US.
• Pay: CAD $130,000–$150,000 yearly (plus CAD $85,000 Sales Incentive Plan)
• Team: Reports to the Sr. Director of Life Science Research Sales.
• Mission: Lead a diverse research microscopy sales team to achieve sustainable market-outpacing growth in a key geography by building and developing top talent and executing strategic sales plans.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Sales Leadership: Lead the sales region through the development and execution of strategies that drive year-over-year growth in new funnel created, funnel growth, orders, sales, and market share gains.
• Team Development: Recruit, train, and develop a diverse sales team, utilizing Value Selling methodologies to ensure best-in-market customer experience.
• Funnel Management: Manage all funnel creation, funnel development, and selling activities for the research microscopy sales teams in the assigned region.
• Performance Monitoring: Implement sales plans and regularly evaluate key performance indicators to deliver on growth expectations, proactively implementing countermeasures as needed.
• Strategic Account Growth: Develop specific action plans for Key Account growth and collaborate with all customer-facing field personnel to implement Team Selling.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Biology is desired; Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a plus. Career level in sales management within life sciences.
• Experience: 5+ years of experience in sales management with Life Science capital equipment sales, with a specific focus on Life Science Research at major academic institutions.
• Skills: Proven ability to plan and execute for growth, skilled in building and developing highly effective and diverse sales teams, hands-on sales leadership with a focus on field presence (going to GEMBA), rigorous in standard work for funnel and forecast management, and strong communication skills.
• Bonus: 7+ years’ experience as a sales representative in the Life Science capital equipment field is preferred.
