Recreational Lodging Front Desk/Reservations Clerk | Commander, Navy Installations Command
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Commander, Navy Installations Command, located in NAS Key West. This organization oversees the operation and maintenance of naval installations worldwide, ensuring readiness and quality of life for service members and their families. This role directly supports the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Recreational Lodging Program, which provides a variety of lodging options, including RV Parks, vacation rentals, and campgrounds, to military personnel. By expertly managing front desk and reservation services, this position is crucial in delivering positive lodging experiences and supporting the well-being of the Navy community.

• Mission: Manages front desk and reservation functions to support the MWR Recreational Lodging program’s diverse accommodations.
• Tech Stack: Property Management System (PMS), Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
What You’ll Actually Do
• Guest Services: Utilize the Property Management System (PMS) to manage guest check-ins, retrieve and update reservation information, and provide room keys or cards upon registration.
• Financial Handling: Process guest payments, secure credit card authorizations for charges and incidentals, and accurately manage a change fund, preparing daily close bank reports.
• Customer Support: Professionally assist guests by answering questions about facilities and local attractions, and skillfully handle customer complaints, escalating to management when necessary.
• Operational Support: Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the front desk and lobby areas, inventory all keys and supplies, and generate various daily operational reports from the PMS.
• Communication & Logistics: Answer and direct phone calls, log and notify appropriate departments of trouble calls in the PMS, and manage lost and found items for guests.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Early Career. Requires federal employment suitability, successful completion of a background investigation, and Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process. While there is no specific positive education requirement, one year of specialized experience is essential.
• Experience: One year of specialized experience in daily front desk operations for a hotel or RV Park, equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression, is required.
• Skills: Knowledge of daily hotel or RV park front desk operations and hospitality principles; proficiency in an automated Property Management System (PMS) and Microsoft Office Programs; ability to effectively resolve customer complaints, handle cash, and communicate clearly in English.
