Real-Time Avatar Technical Animator / Character Animator (Internship to Hire) | BALANX-Bio

The Tone:
BALANX-Bio is building a real-time AI-driven Avatar system that creates responsive digital humans with animation, speech, emotion, and behavioral intelligence. This role collaborates with engineers and artists to bring the Avatar to life. The goal is a believable, expressive, and natural real-time character for conversation.

The TL;DR
• Role: Real-Time Avatar Technical Animator / Character Animator
• Mission: Bring the Avatar to life through high-quality animation content and real-time animation systems to create believable real-time character behavior.
• Tech Stack: Blender, Maya, Unreal Engine, Unity, FBX, GLB

What You’ll Actually Do
Animation Creation: Create high-quality idle, speaking, emotion-driven, and listening animations that feel natural and responsive.
Facial Development: Refine facial expression meshes, blendshapes, and emotion systems to support a range of emotional states.
System Integration: Implement and maintain real-time animation systems in Unreal or Unity for smooth transitions and layered control.
Behavior Support: Define how AI parameters map to Avatar body motion intensity, gesture, and head/eye behavior.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Strong understanding of human movement, body language, and natural motion.
• Experience: Experience animating characters and faces in Blender/Maya, creating blendshapes, and integrating animation into Unreal or Unity engines.
• Skills: Ability to create clean, production-ready animation assets, understanding real-time blending, state machines, and runtime animation systems.
