The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Phillips Edison & Company, located in Cincinnati, OH. Phillips Edison & Company specializes in real estate asset management and transactions, and this position plays a critical role in the financial accuracy and coordination of those activities. The role is vital for ensuring correct accounting for property acquisitions and dispositions, and for contributing to key technical accounting analyses. This position offers high visibility within the accounting department and across various operating teams.

• Mission: This role is responsible for the precise coordination and accounting of real estate asset transactions and contributing to technical accounting analyses.
• Tech Stack: MRI, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Manage Accounting: Perform initial and subsequent accounting for newly acquired or disposed properties, including monitoring month-end accruals, account reconciliations, and reviewing financial statements for accuracy.
• Interpret Agreements: Interpret and execute purchase and sale agreements, calculating post-close proration true-ups on payables and receivables and settling with counterparties.
• Review Valuations: Review purchase price allocation valuations prepared by third-parties on newly acquired properties for reasonableness and accuracy.
• Aid Technical Accounting: Aid with asset impairment evaluations and participate in other technical accounting analyses.
• Respond to Requests: Respond to urgent requests from internal business partners related to property transactions, and various quarterly and year-end financial reporting and audit requests.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field, with core domain knowledge in accounting principles and real estate transactions.
• Experience: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word); experience with MRI and familiarity with AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) preferred.
• Skills: Excellent analytical and technical skills, excellent communication and organization skills, and meticulous attention to details and accuracy.
• Bonus: CPA or actively working towards a CPA designation is preferred.
