Job Description: Quantitative Intern – Alternative Risk Premia
Department: QRI Quantitative Research
Location: Boston, USA, or such other mutually agreeable location.
About the Team:
The QRI Quantitative Research group provides research and analysis to portfolio managers and other investment professionals in support of Fidelity’s multi-asset investment solutions. They play a vital role in helping portfolio managers select the most suitable investment options and manage asset class and risk exposures.
Role Overview:
This internship will provide you with the opportunity to contribute to the research and development of systematic investment strategies, approaches for strategic and tactical asset allocation, and tools for risk management and portfolio construction. Your work will directly impact Fidelity’s mutual funds, client accounts, and the development of new products.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Partner with portfolio managers and research analysts to conduct necessary research for the team.
• Stay up-to-date on the latest academic and industry developments in premia design and implementation.
• Explain complex quantitative concepts to non-technical audiences and mentor other quantitative analysts.
• Present research findings to key stakeholders.
Desired Qualifications:
• Class of 2026 graduate with a Master’s or PhD degree in mathematics, engineering, science, finance, or business.
• Strong working knowledge of data analytics languages (specifically Python) and data management tools (SQL).
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a genuine passion for teamwork.
• Familiarity with both cash and derivative instruments (equities, fixed income, futures, forwards, swaps, and options) is desirable but not required.
• Highly proactive and self-motivated with the ability to meet objectives independently.
• Experience with Bloomberg/FactSet is a plus.
• Experience with financial analysis, including back-testing and computing statistical measures, is a plus.
