Job Description: Public Relations Intern
Walker Sands is seeking an energetic and detail-oriented individual for a paid, 12-week Public Relations Internship.
Role Title: Public Relations Intern
Location: Hybrid, reporting to the Seattle office.
Duration & Schedule: This is a 12-week paid internship, working 40 hours per week, beginning on September 8, 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
• Developing media lists.
• Conceptualizing and executing pitches.
• Writing press releases.
• Coordinating contributed articles.
Desired Skills & Qualities:
• A strong interest in the media, current trends, and what constitutes a newsworthy story.
• Solid writing foundation.
• Interest in conducting web research.
• An obsession with grammar and the ability to significantly improve mediocre writing.
• A keen eye for typos (they should “jump off the page”).
• Self-starter mentality.
• Ability to think on your feet and adapt quickly to changing situations.
• Passion for the PR/Communication industry.
• A desire and eagerness to learn and grow.
Work Environment:
As part of the PR Internship Program, the intern will work on a small team, focusing on clients specializing in the B2B (business-to-business) and technology sectors. The program promises in-depth exposure to the PR industry.
Eligibility & Requirements:
• Candidates must be eligible for full-time employment upon completion of the program.
• Students who will remain enrolled in a full-time academic program in the semester immediately following the internship (e.g., college sophomores or juniors continuing their undergraduate education) are not eligible to apply.
• All PR internship candidate finalists must complete a writing test.
• Full-time employment at Walker Sands is not guaranteed but may be extended based on individual performance and agency role availability.
Compensation & Benefits (Internship Specific):
• Hourly Pay Rate: $20.76 / hour
