Public Health Research Intern | Healthy Community Lifespaces
The Tone:
This is a volunteer internship with Healthy Community Lifespaces, operating on a hybrid schedule that combines visits to Harrisburg with most work from home. Healthy Community Lifespaces is dedicated to improving community well-being through evidence-based public health programs, research, and education. This role is crucial for supporting ongoing community health projects by providing essential data collection, analysis, and documentation, contributing to practical and sustainable solutions for healthier communities.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Data Collection: Assist with survey development, interview preparation, and focus group activities.
• Data Entry & Organization: Accurately enter and organize research data using spreadsheet tools.
• Research Support: Conduct literature reviews to gather relevant information for ongoing projects.
• Communication: Prepare reports, infographics, and presentations to summarize findings for internal teams and community partners.
• Project Coordination: Coordinate with community organizations, track project timelines, and support evaluation activities.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in or recently completed a bachelor’s or master’s program in public health, health sciences, social sciences, or a related discipline, or possess equivalent experience, with foundational knowledge in public health, community health, or epidemiology.
• Experience: Ability to conduct basic research activities including literature reviews, providing survey or interview support, and accurately entering and organizing data.
• Skills: Comfort with data tools such as spreadsheets (e.g., Excel or Google Sheets); Strong written and verbal communication for summarizing findings; Strong organizational and time-management skills to manage tasks and meet deadlines; Ability to collaborate respectfully and work independently with appropriate guidance.
• Bonus: Demonstrated interest in community-based work and the social and environmental factors influencing health; Willingness to learn basic data analysis methods.
