What You’ll Actually Do
• Orientation & Learning: Participate in comprehensive branch orientation, new hire onboarding, and essential safety training during your first week. Gain foundational exposure to Herc Rentals’ critical systems, operational tools, established processes, and diverse equipment fleet.
• Operational Training: Acquire detailed equipment knowledge across various categories, understanding their functions, applications, and operational procedures. Learn the basics of the RentalMan system, including how to accurately enter reservations, sales orders, process returns, and review equipment availability.
• Customer Support: Develop strong customer service skills by answering inbound calls, writing accurate reservations, supporting walk-in customers effectively, and assisting with equipment return transactions. Gain exposure to broader branch operations, including yard walks, ride-alongs, credit approval processes, and understanding equipment release and receipt procedures.
• Sales & Field Development: Shadow experienced Territory Sales Representatives to observe crucial customer interactions and apply sales best practices in real-world scenarios. Visit various customer job sites to understand specific project needs, observe equipment applications, and identify potential sales opportunities.
• Career Exploration: Understand the clear career pathway into the ProSales Associate (Black and Gold Academy) program upon graduation, Herc’s premier early career sales development program. Build essential foundational skills that prepare you for future full-time sales opportunities, including Territory Sales Representative roles.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Current student or recent graduate pursuing a career in sales or customer-facing roles.
• Experience: 0–2 years of customer service or sales-related experience preferred.
• Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal abilities; competitive, self-motivated, and goal-oriented; willingness to learn, take initiative, and apply feedback; effective time management and multitasking capabilities.
• Bonus: Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally as needed.
