Accountant, Property Accounting | Invitation Homes

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Invitation Homes. Invitation Homes is an evolving publicly traded REIT pioneering a new industry, managing over 100,000 single family rental homes with a market capitalization exceeding $17 billion. This role is crucial for providing timely and accurate financial information to shareholders and internal partners by maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, supporting the month-end close process, and ensuring timely delivery of financial reports.

• Mission: Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and support the month-end close process to ensure timely financial reporting.

What You’ll Actually Do
• General Ledger Management: Prepare high-volume journal entries, complete bank reconciliations across multiple accounts, and maintain balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Financial Review: Review the balance sheets and income statements to ensure their accuracy.
• Month-End Close: Support the month-end close process and ensure all deadlines are met.
• Financial Analysis: Review financial results and provide analysis and insight, including recurring and ad hoc analyses of financial trends, performance metrics, and benchmarks.
• Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audit requests, including SOX compliance and internal controls documentation.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early Career, Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Experience: At least one year of experience in accounting and financial statement preparation is preferred; intermediate knowledge of Excel functionality is required.
• Skills: Analytical thinking with attention to detail and a problem-solving mindset, ability to follow and apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), strong customer service and interpersonal skills, and professional verbal and written communication skills.
• Bonus: Experience with Yardi software.
