About Tesla’s Used Car Operations Team
The Used Car Operations team at Tesla is responsible for the entire business process surrounding used vehicles, from intake to resale. They handle:
• Intake and Refurbishment: Processing and preparing all used Tesla and non-Tesla vehicles for resale.
• Resale: Selling used vehicles to maximize cash conversion goals.
• Vehicle Title Management: Ensuring quick and accurate transfer of ownership documentation for both leased and purchased vehicles.
The team prides itself on a factory-like approach to optimizing operations and constantly strives to revolutionize the trade-in and used vehicle purchase experience.
Project Management Intern Role
As a Project Management Intern, you’ll be tasked with identifying, proposing, and implementing projects that directly improve operational efficiency. This involves:
• Understanding and Mapping Operations: Analyzing data and observing workflows to gain a comprehensive understanding of the national-scale operation.
• Identifying Opportunities: Employing first principles thinking to pinpoint areas for improvement and increased operational capacity.
• Research and Analysis: Investigating problem statements and processes, identifying constraints and root causes, and developing ROI analysis/models to support decision making.
• Project Scoping and Implementation: Proposing improvements to leadership, collaborating with stakeholders to drive solutions, and ensuring desired impact is achieved.
• Documentation and Communication: Creating and maintaining JIRA tickets to document project requirements, progress, and communicate with leadership and development teams.
• Stakeholder Alignment: Bringing stakeholders together to ensure alignment on project goals.
• Ad-hoc Project Management: Handling and servicing any ad-hoc project requests promptly.
