Job Title: Project Management Intern

Location: San Jose, California (This is an in-office position; a remote option is unavailable.)

Opportunity Overview:
Therma is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Management Intern to join its San Jose team. This hands-on, in-office internship offers real-world experience in mechanical construction project management, covering all phases from pre-construction through job closeout. The ideal candidate is pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management, possesses strong communication and problem-solving skills, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The Project Management Intern will gain practical experience by assisting with a range of tasks, including:
Estimating & Pre-Construction: Supporting the team in the initial phases of projects.
Specification Analysis: Reviewing project specifications to understand requirements.
Takeoffs & Plan Reading: Performing quantity takeoffs and interpreting construction plans.
Material and Subcontractor Quote Analysis: Evaluating quotes for materials and services from subcontractors.
Bid Submission: Assisting with the preparation and submission of bids.
Team Meeting Attendance: Attending team meetings as required to stay informed and contribute.
Subcontractor Coordination: Helping to coordinate activities with subcontractors.
Material Ordering: Assisting with the process of ordering necessary project materials.
Project Meeting Attendance & Documentation: Participating in project meetings and documenting key discussions and decisions.
Job Cost Review: Reviewing project costs to ensure budget adherence.

Educational Background Requirements and Eligibility:
• The internship program is open to college students pursuing a degree in a relevant field such as Construction Management or Mechanical Engineering.
• Applicants must have completed at least two years of undergraduate coursework at an accredited college or university.
• A valid driver’s license is required.
• Candidates may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening if a specific project mandates testing.

• A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required.

Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Technical Proficiency: Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus.
Proactive Approach: Demonstrates a proactive approach, self-starter mentality, and takes initiative.
Attitude: Possesses a positive attitude and is a team player.

Compensation:
Hourly Pay: $25
