Category Manager Project Intern | TikTok

The Tone:
This is a project internship at TikTok, operating within its US E-commerce division. TikTok is the leading global platform for short-form mobile video, dedicated to inspiring creativity and bringing joy. The company’s global headquarters are in Los Angeles and Singapore, with offices in major cities worldwide. This role contributes to the TikTok Shop US operation team, which aims to pioneer content and creator commerce in the US and establish TikTok as the premier commerce channel for merchants, creators, and affiliates. As an intern, you will engage in impactful short-term projects that provide a glimpse into professional real-world experience, gaining practical skills and developing a deeper understanding of your career interests within the rapidly growing e-commerce industry.

The TL;DR

• Mission: This role supports the incubation of merchants and the discovery of collaborative models to drive category growth within TikTok Shop US operations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Assist with merchant incubation to support overall category growth.
• Develop collaborative models that align with merchants’ short-term and long-term development plans, optimizing platform resource investment.
• Resolve challenges in business expansion through close collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Update clients on new TikTok Shop product developments and available promotional opportunities.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, with a strong interest in business or related fields.
• Experience: No specific years of experience are required for this internship. However, prior internship or full-time experience within an e-commerce marketplace business or in retail category management is preferred.
• Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; adept at conducting qualitative and quantitative research to produce actionable insights; excellent communication and cross-team collaboration skills; capable of independently progressing initiatives.
• Bonus: Familiarity with the TikTok content ecosystem, shoppable content trends, and brand-creator partnerships is a plus.
