Description: Project Coordination Intern – Generation Equality
This internship supports the Generation Equality initiative, a five-year (and beyond) effort to accelerate progress on gender equality and counteract setbacks caused by intersecting challenges like COVID-19, climate change, and conflict. The initiative aims to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and realize the 1995 Beijing Platform for Action.
The intern will work under the direct supervision of the Coordination Specialist at the Generation Equality Coordination Hub, within UN Women’s Office of the Executive Director. The Hub employs a whole-of-organization approach to UN Women’s convening role in Generation Equality.
Responsibilities include:
• Stakeholder Engagement: Supporting the planning and coordination of Generation Equality stakeholder engagement, including multi-stakeholder interactions across regions, constituencies, and thematic areas. This involves organizing and coordinating in-person and virtual events (webinars, learning sessions, meetings) with internal and external stakeholders.
• Documentation and Communication: Providing timely support, including participation in events and drafting high-quality documents such as planning documents, meeting minutes, concept notes, background documents, guidance notes, talking points, briefs, and presentations. Supporting effective information flow and knowledge exchange, including capturing project results, drafting stories for internal and external updates, supporting process flows, and conducting follow-ups.
• Project Coordination and Implementation: Supporting Generation Equality project coordination and implementation, including financial and programmatic monitoring and reporting. Providing operational support for procurement requests, consultancies, and payments, in line with UN Women policies and guidelines. Supporting the documentation of progress and results against the Generation Equality Phase II Project Document.
Learning Objectives:

• Teamwork in a multicultural setting
Currently pursuings:
• University studies in gender issues, political affairs, international relations, or a relevant field.
• Enrollment in a graduate program, final year of a Bachelor’s degree program, recent graduate (within two years), or enrollment in a postgraduate professional traineeship program.
• Excellent English communication skills (written and oral). Knowledge of another UN language is advantageous.
Remuneration: A stipend will be provided to interns not receiving financial support from other sources.
